It was not that long ago that “maori humour” was everywhere. Everyday New Zealanders were laughing at the humour of Billy T James and Prince Tui Teka. They taught us as a nation to laugh at ourselves before we laughed at others. They showed other New Zealanders the maori humour that is common on maraes, in the workplace, at the pub and at the parties

Pakeha would recite Billy’s jokes, even attempting to mimic his infectious trademark laugh (which all Maori laugh like anyway).

Unfortunately this type of humour seems to have died with them.

As I do not possess their talent or their ability and showmanship to continue on from them I thought this site may help  inspire others to take up the challenge of continuing their journeys which were prematurely ended.

Maori Humour is all about taking the piss but in the most respectful way possible, and it is possible!

In the stereotypical way of Billy T's character, I do not have permission to use any of the links or copied information within these pages. I "borrowed" it and will give it back when I have finished.
